The Waste to Resource Ontario Association Awards celebrates our members and volunteers and everything they do for the Association and the Waste and Recycling Sector.


Volunteer of the Year Award

This award recognizes one (1) volunteer who generously gives their time and talents and provides valuable contributions to W2RO and the waste and recycling sector.


The Industry Innovation Award

This award is designed to recognize one (1) W2RO member organization, on an annual basis, for innovative ideas and techniques that have made an impact on projects, which will improve the quality of waste and recycling services in Ontario (collection, delivery, processing, or operations).


The Community Builder Award

This award recognizes one (1) W2RO member organization who actively and selflessly engage in philanthropic activities in their communities.


Association Award submission deadline is April 15, 2026, and are to be submitted to info@w2ro.org. These Awards will be handed out annually at the Canadian Waste to Resource Conference Awards dinner on June 23, 2026, at Fallsview Casino

2026 Volunteer of the Year: Larry Fedec

This award recognizes a volunteer who generously gives their time and talents and provides valuable contributions to W2RO and the waste and recycling sector. This award was created to recognize the extensive hours that volunteers contribute to ensure the continued success of W2RO.
 

We want to congratulate Larry Fedec, Solid Waste Program Lead, HDR, as our Volunteer of the Year!

 

 

 

 

2026 Industry Innovation Award Winner: Tomlinson

This award recognizes a W2RO member organization, on an annual basis, for innovative ideas and techniques that have made an impact on projects, which will improve the quality of waste and recycling services in Ontario. 
 

We want to congratulate Tomlinson as our Industry Innovation Award Winner for their Waste-to-Asphalt Project.

 

 

2026 Community Builder Award Winner: Miller Waste Systems Inc.

This award recognizes a W2RO member organization who actively and selflessly engage in philanthropic activities in their communities.  This award recognizes a philanthropic or community service initiative that provides direct impact on at a local level.
 

We want to congratulate Miller Waste Systems Inc. as our Community Builder Award Winner!

 

W2RO is proud to continue our Scholarship Program, aimed at inspiring the next generation of students to pursue careers in the waste and recycling industry.

 

W2RO awards five (5) scholarships of $2000 each to outstanding students. We are committed to supporting students in their educational journey toward making a difference in this essential field.
 

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in a college, university, or trades program that leads to a career in the waste and recycling sector. Applicants must also be Canadian residents enrolled in an accredited Canadian trade school, college, or university. All submissions must be sent in by April 1, 2026.
