Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. (EGD) and Union Gas Limited have been working with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) to develop a plan to procure renewable natural gas (RNG) as a low-carbon alternative to conventional natural gas. To support this initiative, EGD is inviting interested companies (Respondents) to submit proposals for the sale of RNG to EGD for a term of up to 10 years.
The Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Energy, intends to use Cap-and-Trade funds to enable Ontario’s gas utilities to procure RNG from within Ontario from a variety of sources, including landfills, waste water, agricultural waste, source-separated organics and municipal green bin programs to EGD for injection into EGD’s gas distribution system while ensuring the procurement of RNG is cost-neutral to customers.
If your RNG production facility is located in Ontario, please confirm that it is situated within EGD’s franchise area (see diagram below) in order to be able to inject into EGD’s distribution system.
Details regarding specific communities in EGD’s franchise area are also available at www.enbridgegas.com/homes/start-stop-move/connect-disconnect-service/our-service-area.aspx.
If you and your company are interested in submitting a proposal for the sale of RNG to EGD, you can complete a brief survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/egdrngrfp to receive the RFP package, which includes additional information on the process.
If you have any questions, you can email them to EGDGasSupply@enbridge.com.
