SNC-Lavalin has more than 40 years of experience providing solid waste management services to municipal and public sector clients.

Our Solid Waste Management Group acts as an integrated team offering broad-based technical expertise in traditional waste management approaches combined with cognizance of creative state-of-the-art management of waste as a resource.

We provide a full range of engineering design services relating to landfills and specific system components. We have designed and conducted landfill-monitoring programs for numerous public and private  sector clients and have an excellent track record in liaising with regulatory agencies on our clients' behalf to address compliance issues or obtain/modify approvals.

SNC‑Lavalin staff have provided numerous operational assessments of landfills, waste transfer stations, compost facilities, and recycling programs, designed and supervised construction of facilities and have provided feasibility and operational reviews.

Our firm has undertaken the development of numerous solid waste management programs and strategies, both as stand-alone programs, and as part of our waste management planning studies. Programs have addressed public and review agency participation, waste diversion initiatives, waste collections/haulage/transfer, review and assessment of waste technology feasibility, siting programs and implementation and public education/communicty outreach programs.

Given the breadth of our integrated capabilities, we can undertake all aspects of a client’s project from the feasibility stage, through engineering design and construction, to operation and decommissioning.
